Until we enter eternity, the children of God are to be about our Father’s work on earth. In order for us to be engaged in the work of God on earth, we need to be yielded to God and His will for our lives. God has given to His children His Holy Spirit to live within our spirit to help us be engaged and effective in the work of God on earth. In the Old Testament, God worked through the nation of Israel to do His work on earth, but they failed to be faithful to His will and He moved to include the Gentiles. Today, God is accomplishing His work on earth through His church made up of the born again, baptized, believers; who have united together in common doctrine to serve as the body of Christ in obedience to God’s will recorded in His Word. God has renewed His work on earth in His church and, in the future, He will renew His work on earth in Israel once again. If we are going to be faithful to the work of God on earth until we enter eternity, we must regularly renew ourselves to the work of God. We do this by being in the house of God for worship regularly and in His Word personally so we keep ourselves sensitive to God working in us to help us be faithful in His work. We also need to be engaged in faithful worship to help us be yielded to God’s Spirit in us, so He can empower us and guide us to be effective in the work of God here on earth. This is critical because the work of God must be done by God through His people in order for it to be eternally effective. We are to be His tools, yielded to His control, to be used by Him to accomplish His work to His glory. As people who make up a church body of believers here today, it is critical that we renew ourselves to the work of God on earth in each of our lives and through each of our lives. If we renew ourselves to loving our Lord in worshiping, we will renew ourselves to serving Him in His work on earth out of our love for Him. The Lord is not done with His work on earth and He is not done with us being part of His work. May we yield to God to renew His work in us and through us today as we worship Him.
