Genesis 1:1 — In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
John 1:1-3 — In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
Colossians 1:16-17 — For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
God is eternal and for all of eternity the Godhead was doing fine existing as one. God could have continued eternally in this condition without anything else existing. But He chose to create things to enjoy being glorified in and by them as their Creator. God could have created the angels, the universe, and all the celestial hosts and been done with His creating and that would have been it. He would have been glorified by the creation He created. But God chose to make one planet special so that it could contain and sustain life, and He made earth to bring forth life on it. God could have stopped when He created the land animals on the dry land that He had made and all of His creation would have function well to His glory and would have continued on to His glory. But God chose to create man in His own image to bring Him glory in a special way as His worshipper and He did so. God continues today to bring Himself glory by those who willfully choose to trust Him and obey Him to serve Him and worship Him to His glory. God could do His work on earth any way He would like and He has chosen to work through those created in His image. God works through those who yield to His work in them. This is how God accomplishes His good pleasure on this earth. God brings the lost to Him in relationships of His righteousness by the testimony and witness of those who are already in relationship with Him. God preaches and teaches His Word by using those who are willing to be used to His glory with the gifts that He has blessed them with by the empowerment of His Spirit working through them. God supports His work on earth through His children who give of the resources He has blessed them with. God causes His church to function together in bringing Him glory by doing His will in worshipping Him and serving Him through those who willingly make up that body of believers and who live yielded to Him. God’s plan is to work through people and we need be willing to be part of His plan to His glory.
