WED: “The Holy Spirit Helps Us When We Yield to Him”

TEXT:  Isaiah 63:7-14

I. It is always good to enjoy the lovingkindnesses of God (vv. 7-9)
A. God’s lovingkindness is offered to us by His grace and mercy (v. 7)
B. God’s lovingkindness is offered to us in relationship with Him (v. 8)
C. God’s lovingkindness is offered to us in His care for us (v. 9)

II. It is never good to grieve the Holy Spirit of God (v. 10)
A. The Holy Spirit is grieved when we rebel against His work in us
B. The Holy Spirit is grieved when we sin against God’s will for us
C. The Holy Spirit works against us when we have grieved Him Ephesians 4:29-30

III. The Holy Spirit helps the child of God rest in peace (vv. 11-14)
A. God’s people need leaders who benefit from God’s Spirit (v. 11)
B. God’s people need leaders who are led by God’s Spirit (vv. 12-13; Galatians 5:18)
C. God’s Spirit will lead God’s people to rest in their God (v. 14)
1. Not striving for what our flesh can produce ourselves (Galatians 5:19-21)
2. Resting in what only God can do in us and through us
3. The fruit of the Spirit in us helps us to rest in trusting our God (Galatians 5:22-26)
