WED: “THE HOLY SPIRIT CAN HELP US WHEN NO ONE CAN”

TEXT: Isaiah 59:14-21

I. Sometimes we feel like everything is against us (vv. 14-16)
A. Things in this world are often upside down and backwards (v. 14)
1. Judgment
2. Justice
3. Truth
4. Equity (Isaiah 26:10; 30:10; Amos 3:10)
B. When right is made wrong the Lord is displeased (v. 15)
1. Truth failing is just not right
2. Being punished for doing right
3. Justice not being served and judgment not being just
C. God cares about us when it seems no one else does (v. 16)
1. God sees when we stand alone without support
2. God cares when no one speaks up for our innocence
3. God helps us when no one else will or can
* Deliverance that only God can provide
* God’s righteousness sustains His children

II. God has everything in control no matter how things look (vv. 17-20)
A. God is more than able to help us in our injustices (v. 17; Psalm 89:8, 13-15; Proverbs 1:1-4; 21:2-4)
B. God will right the wrongs in the final judgment (v. 18)
C. God uses His Spirit to help His children effected by injustice (v. 19)
D. God will set things in order once and for all in the end (v. 20)

III. God is faithful when others are not (v. 21)
A. God will always keep His covenant with His people
B. God puts His Spirit upon His people to help them in life
C. God makes His Word available to His people forever
