TEXT:   Hebrews 10:19-25

Introduction:

Relationships have privileges with responsibilities

Salvation is a privilege that has responsibilities

I. Relationships bring privileges and responsibilities (vv. 19-21)

1. Because of who we are as brethren in the family of God (v. 19; I Timothy 5:1-7)
2. Because of who our Saviour is bringing us into the family of God (v. 20)
3. Because of whose we are as children of God by faith in Jesus Christ (v. 21)

1. We need to come into the house of God on a regular basis (I Timothy 3:14-16)
2. We need to exercise our privilege of coming before our God faithfully in Jesus (Hebrews 4:14-16)

II. Responsibilities involve personal choices we must make (vv. 22-24)

1. We must choose to stay close to God (v. 22)
2. We must choose to grow in our faith (v. 23)
3. We must choose to care about our church (v. 24)

1. We need to gather together in God’s house to encourage one another
2. We need to gather together in God’s house to exhort one another
3. We need to gather together in God’s house to edify one another

III. Responsibilities require showing up to fulfill them (v. 25)

1. Showing up for assembling in God’s house
2. Showing up together with your church family for worship
3. Showing up to encourage one another in our walk with God
4. Showing up to worship more often the closer we get to His return
