Introduction: The fruit of the Spirit Ephesians 5:22-23, Galatians 5:22

I. Our sin always gets us into trouble (2:1-6)
A. God’s warning against planning to do wrong because you can (2:1)
B. God’s warning against taking advantage of people and families (2:2)
C. God’s warning about His opposition to them in His judgment (2:3-4)
D. God’s warning about when He judges there is none who can help (2:5-6)

II. God’s Spirit is always able to work (2:7)
A. The Spirit of the Lord is never restricted, but we can restrict our benefit
B. The Spirit of the Lord will never lead us into sin, but we can let others
C. The Spirit of the Lord will give us His Word for our good if we are yielded to Him

III. Our leaders can lead us astray, God never will (3:1-5)
A. God requires leaders to make good and godly decisions (3:1-2)
B. God expects leaders to lead for the good of others not for their own good (3:3)
C. God opposes leaders who lead people away from Him and His will (3:4-5)
1. God is not listening to them
2. God is not speaking to them
3. God is not working for them

IV. Our sin hinders our benefit from God’s Spirit (3:6-12)
A. Sin hinders God’s people from hearing God speak to them (3:6-7)
B. God’s power has no limit, but we can limit ourselves from it (3:8-9)
C. Our fleshly desires can cost us the power of God in our lives (3:10-12)
