TEXT: Matthew 4:1-11

I. The Spirit led Jesus into the wilderness alone (vv. 1-2)
A. He was led willingly to fulfill God’s will
B. He was led obediently to the will of God
C. He was led honorably to prove His Messiahship

II. The Spirit led Jesus to be tempted by Satan (v. 3)
A. Satan came to try to thwart God’s plan
B. Satan came to try to cause Jesus to fail
C. Satan came to try to destroy our redemption

III. The Spirit led Jesus to be victorious over temptation (vv. 4-11)
A. He was victorious because He was the Holy God
B. He was victorious because He was the sinless Son of God
C. He was victorious because He declared God’s Word
