Introduction: Matthew 3:13-4:2, Mark 1:9-11, Luke 3:1-22, John 1:29-34
I. The Holy Spirit identified Jesus as God’s Messiah (John 1:29-34) (Ephesians 1:13,14)
A. The Holy Spirit came upon Jesus in fulfillment of Scripture
B. The Holy Spirit comes into the believer in fulfillment of Scripture
C. The Holy Spirit in the believer identifies us a child of God

II. The Holy Spirit is the result of obedience to God’s will (Matthew 3:13-17)
A. Jesus was obedient to God’s plan for His life
B. Jesus was anointed with the Spirit after He obeyed God’s will
C. Jesus was crucified so we can be saved from sin and indwelt by God’s Spirit

III. The Holy Spirit leads us in following God’s will on earth (Matthew 4:1-2)
A. God’s Spirit indwells us to lead us in God’s will for our lives
B. God’s Spirit indwells us to minister to us in God’s work through our lives
C. God’s Spirit indwells us to strengthen us in honoring God when tempted
