TEXT:  Luke 4:16-30

I. The Spirit of God helps us do God’s work even in difficult places (vv. 16-20)
A. We need to do God’s work on earth even when we know it will be hard to do (v. 16)
B. We need to do God’s work on earth with God’s Word (v. 17)
C. We need to do God’s work on earth with the blessing of God on us (v. 18)

II. The Holy Spirit helps us do God’s work even in opposition (vv. 21-24)
A. Jesus spoke the truth about Himself knowing it would not be popular (v. 21)
B. Jesus was gracious in speaking truth even though some were confused (v. 22)
C. Jesus knew that He would not be well received in His home community (vv. 23-24)

III. The Holy Spirit helps us do God’s work even when others reject it (vv. 25-30)
A. Speaking the truth even when you know it will anger others (vv. 25-27)
B. Challenging others with truth is not always appreciated (vv. 28-29)
C. Jesus declared His deity and now He displays His deity to us (v. 30)
