I. The significance of personal worship (vv. 1-4)
- The significance of the personal pronouns (vv. 1-3)
- The significance of the personal requests (vv. 1-2)
- The significance of the personal relationship (v. 2)
- The significance of the personal commitment (vv. 2-3)
- The significance of the personal motivation (v. 4)
II. The reason for regular worship (vv. 5-6)
- It helps us to live wisely instead of foolishly (v. 5a)
- The foolish cannot be in the presence of the Lord
- The foolish do not enjoy the face of God’s blessing shining upon them
- The foolish don’t have a good standing before the Lord God Almighty
- It helps us to experience God’s love instead of His wrath (v. 5b)
- God is a God that loves holiness and hates sinfulness
- God loves what righteousness does in our lives and hates what iniquity does
- God those who benefit from His righteousness in their lives and He will condemn those who reject it
- It helps us to benefit from God’s help instead of God’s destruction (v. 6a)
- God’s destruction is on those that speak lies instead of speak truth
- God’s destruction is on those who are deceptive in their words
- God’s help is on those who are honest and do not manipulate information
- It helps us to benefit from God’s closeness instead of distance from God (v. 6b)
- We cannot be close to the Lord and live in sin
- We cannot be intimate with the Lord and purposely hurt people
- We cannot be near to the heart of God if we deal in deceit
III. The relationship between personal and corporate worship (v. 7)
- Personal worship prepares us for corporate worship
- Personal worship leads us to corporate worship
- Personal worship strengthens us in corporate worship
IV. The result of regular worship (vv. 8-12)
- Yielding to the Lord to be led by Him in His righteousness (vv. 8-10)
- Desiring the Lord’s leading in my life
- Desiring the Lord’s righteousness leading me in my life
- Desiring the Lord’s way to guide me clearly
- Desiring the Lord’s will in my life unlike the wicked
- >Faithfulness in my words
- >Righteousness in my life
- >Wholesomeness in my speech
- >Wisdom counselling my living
- >Submission to God in my attitude
- Trusting in the Lord to be filled with His joy in my life (v. 11)
- God’s joy in my soul by faith in Him
- Expressing God’s joy from my mouth
- Loving the Lord to be defended by Him and His joy
- Experiencing the Lord working in my life for my benefit (v. 12)
- The Lord’s blessing in my life
- The Lord’s favor on my life
- The Lord’s protection surrounding my life
