TEXT:  HEBREWS 4:8-16

1. Praying & fasting helps us prepare for eternity.  (vv. 8-11)
   1. Our eternal rest with His rewards for our faithfulness
   2. Our temporal rest in relationship with our Saviour by faith
   3. Our faithful service is about being obedient to our Saviour
2. Praying & fasting increase our benefit from the Word of God.  (vv. 12-13)
   1. By being more sensitive to the Holy Spirit teaching us His Truth
   2. By being more sensitive to God using His Word to work in our heart
   3. By being more sensitive to the influence of God’s Truth in our heart.
3. Praying & fasting helps us have a richer benefit from our faith in Christ.  (vv. 14-16)
   1. Our High Priest keeps us clean & close to our God
   2. Our Mediator in Heaven who understands our challenges as humans
   3. Our LORD who won our victory for us over death, sin & the grave
   4. Our Advocate with our God as we approach His throne in prayer
