November 15, 2023      Truth About Our Stewardship as Believers in Christ

TEXT: I Corinthians 4:1-4, Luke 12:41-48, Matthew 25:14-30

Aim: To impress the magnitude of the stewardship of all things early in the spiritual life of a new Christian.

Introduction: As a child of God and as we grow in our understanding of His Holy Bible, we learn new things about our life. The teaching of God in His Word we will study in this lesson, maybe very new to you. Ask God to guide your study of His Word in the area of being a steward of your life unto God.

I. Ministers of Christ are Stewards of God (I Corinthians 4:1-4)

  1. Every saved person is a minister of Christ (v. 1)
  1. We have been given the ministry of reconciliation
  2. We have been given the word for reconciliation
  3. We have been given the ministry of being an ambassador (II Corinthians 5:17-20)
  1. Every recipient of the Gospel is a steward of the mysteries of God (v. 1)
  1. We have been entrusted with the Gospel of Jesus Christ
  2. We have been entrusted with the message of reconciling others to God
  3. We have been entrusted with the responsibility of representing Christ to others
  4. We have been entrusted with the spiritual gifts and abilities for God’s service on earth
  1. Every steward of God is required to give account for his stewardship (vv. 2-4)
  1. We need to be found faithful to have a good accountability
  2. We need to realize that people are observing our stewardship even now
  3. We need to prepare for our ulitmate accountability at the Judgment Seat of Christ

II. Every steward of God will be judged for their faithfulness (Luke 12:41-48)

  1. We need to be faithful to our Lord who has entrusted these to us (vv. 41-42)
  2. We need to be wise with our entrustment given to us by our Lord (vv. 41-42)
  3. We need to be preparing to be blessed in our stewardship (vv. 43-44)
  1. By being prepared in our stewardship for our accountabilty for our stewardship
  2. By being faithful in our stewardship
  3. By being wise in our stewardship
  1. We need to understand the consequences of not preparing for accountability (vv. 45-48)

III. Our Lord will reckon with His servants regarding His kingdom work (Matthew 25:14-30)

  1. When He returns for us, He will hold us all accountable (vv. 14-23)
  1. All of us have been blessed with goodness by Him
  2. All of us have been given talents by Him
  3. All of us have been given serving abilities by Him
  4. All of us will give an account of what we did with His gifts to us
  1. If we have been unfaithful, we will suffer loss (vv. 24-28)
  1. If we have been unfathful by living in fearfulness
  2. If we have been unfaithful by living in sinfulness
  3. If we have been unfaithful by living in laziness
  1. If we do nothing with the one gift of the Gospel, we lose everything (vv. 29-30)
  1. There will be sadness and regret if we do not prepare for our accountability
  2. There will be eternal sorrow and regret if we do not prepare for eternity
  3. There will be eternal separation from God if we do not benefit from the gift of the Gospel and let it grow and bring forth faith and fruit in God and for His glory
