PM: “IN CHRIST, WE CAN BECOME WHO WE ALREADY ARE”

TEXT: EPHESIANS 4:30-32

I. We are irrevocably sealed by God with His Spirit (v. 30)
A. Could only be broken by a higher power
B. Could only be broken by the one who sealed it.  (II Timothy 2:11-13; Romans 3:3; I Thessalonians 5:24; II Thessalonians 3:3; Titus 1:2; Hebrews 6:18)
C. Could not even be broken by the authority that sealed it at times

II. We are to put away attributes of our old carnal nature (v. 31)
A. Our nature of sinfulness before trusting in Christ
B. Our nature from birth physically before being born spiritually
C. Our nature from Adam before being given God’s divine nature (II Peter 1:3-4)

III. We need to put on attributes of our new godly nature (v. 32)
A. We need to be living in a state of being God’s child
B. We each individually need to be actively kind like Christ
C. We each individually need to be actively loving like Christ
D. We each individually need to be actively forgiving like Christ made possible
