TEXT:  MATTHEW 5:43-48

    • We obey because Jesus Christ commands us to
    • His commands:
      • love
      • bless
      • do good
      • pray
    • Psalm 35:11-16
  • Loving our enemies does not mean agreeing with them.  It is not being weak but is a show of strength.  The goal is to point (our enemies) to Jesus Christ,
  • Jesus taught against retaliation –  Matthew 5:38-42
  • Results of loving our enemies:
    • You become more like God V.45
      • Live up to your name as a child of God
    • You become different to the world V.46
      • Romans 12:2,14,17,20 – becoming less like the world.

ACTION POINTS:

  • Ask God for:
    • Forgiveness for not loving your enemies
    • Strength to love like Him.
