AM: “Marks of a Blessed Man”

TEXT: PSALM 112:1-10, PROVERBS 22:1-29

  • Introduction:
    • When God blesses us, we need to “Praise the Lord”
    • Note the family resemblances in verses 4, 7 and 9
      • graciousness; compassion; righteousness; trust; generosity
  1. A Blessed man brings praise to the Lord     Psalm 112:1
    1. He brags and boasts about his God – not self
  2. A Blessed man seeks to honor the Lord    Psalm 112:1b
    1. He receives righteousness from God and lives accordingly
  3. A Blessed man trusts in the Lord    Psalm 112:7,8
    1. For provision, honor and life   Proverbs 22:4
  4. A Blessed man delights in God’s Word    Psalm 112:1
    1. As in reading a love letter     Proverbs 22:17-21
  5. A Blessed man influences others to join God’s family
    1. Our first mission field is our own family
    2. Influence the conscience of the children     Proverbs 22:6
  6. A Blessed man saves money
    1. For the future    Psalm 112:3
    2. To share     Psalm 112:9
  7. A Blessed man has integrity    Psalm 112:4     Proverbs 22:11
  8. A Blessed man is helpful    Psalm 112:5;     Proverbs 22:2
  9. A Blessed man is wise and thoughtful    Psalm 112:3;     Proverbs 22:3,17
  10. A Blessed man is careful, righteous, dependable and diligent    Psalm 112:6;     Proverbs 22:29
  11. A Blessed man trusts in the Lord     Isaiah 26:3,4
    1. He is not afraid because he is faithfully trusting in God’s Word     Proverbs 22:19;  Romans 10:17
  12. A Blessed man is respected    Psalm 112:9
    1. He has a good name     Proverbs 22:1, 29
  13. A Blessed man is cursed by the wicked  ~  because he is not afraid of them

God uses blessed people to draw others to Him.
