TEXT: MATTHEW 18:1-6
INTRODUCTION: MATTHEW 17; MARK 9:33-37
- The passion for prominence.  v.1
- Pride is a potential for us all
 - Selfishness is in the carnality of us all
 - Thinking of ourselves too much is the root of the problem
 
 - The lesson to be learned for us all. v.2
- Jesus requested a child, to teach them about greatness
 - Jesus allowed a child to settle their dispute about greatness
 - Jesus taught grown men a valuable lesson through a child
 
 - The significance of service. Mark 9:33-35
- Jesus asked a probing question
 - Jesus knew the answer to the question
 - Jesus answered the truth of greatness – Greatness is being submissive, selfless & willing to serve.
 
 - The simplicity of salvation.  vv. 3-4
- It is about a change in ourselves
 - It is about recognizing (or admitting) our need
 - It is about humbling ourselves
 
 - The wonderfulness.  v.5
- We must be willing to receive the Lord
 - We must be willing to care about what Jesus cares about
 - We must be willing to honor the Lord by honoring others
 
 - The danger of damaging a child. v.6
- It is the same for everyone
 - It is the offence of anyone
- Any child who is taken advantage of because of being a child
 - Any child that is caused to doubt God
 - Any child that is drawn into sinfulness
 
 - It is the consequence to whomever is guilty.
 
 
Repent!
