TEXT:  EPHESIANS 1:13-23

Introduction: Ephesians 1:1-12

I. I am guaranteed Heaven eternally by the indwelling Spirit of God (vv. 13-14)

A. I am sealed by the Holy Spirit permanently as a child of God (v. 13)

B. I am eternally guaranteed to receive my inheritance in Heaven (v. 14a)

C. I am enabled to live life to the praise of the glory of my Heavenly Father (v. 14b)

II. I am helped by the Holy Spirit to live to God’s glory on earth (vv. 15-18)

1. Faith in Jesus gives us a new love for others (v. 15; John 13:34; 15:12; I John 4:7-11; I Peter 1:22-25)
2. Faith in Jesus gives us a new gratitude for others (v. 16a; Psalm 100:4; Colossians 3:13-15)
3. Faith in Jesus gives us a new graciousness for others (v. 16b)
4. Faith in Jesus gives us a new spirit of wisdom from God (v. 17a; James 3:13-18; Proverbs 1:1-7)
5. Faith in Jesus gives us a new understanding of revelation in knowing God (v. 17b; I Corinthians 2:10-16)
6. Faith in Jesus gives us a new way to live life because of His Spirit living in us v. 18

III. I am empowered by God’s Spirit living in me (vv. 19-23)

1. I benefit from His power to me (v. 19a)
2. I benefit from His power working in me (v. 19b; Ephesians 3:20-21)
3. I benefit from His power working through me to others (vv. 20-21)
4. I benefit from His power personally and corporately as part of His body (vv. 22-23)
