AM: “God’s Good Tidings to Man”

TEXT: Isaiah 61:1-11

Introduction: Word study of “good tidings”
Isaiah 40:9; Isaiah 41:27; Isaiah 52:7; Isaiah 61:1; Nahum 1:15; Luke 2:10; Romans 10:15
* God’s good tidings come out of God’s people, Israel.
* God’s good tidings are to be proclaimed to everyone.
* God’s good tidings are provided to us through one person to Jerusalem first.
* God’s good tidings make known peace and salvation by God reigning.
* God’s good tidings need to be brought to those who do not know of them.
* God’s good tidings give beauty to the one bringing them to others.
* God’s good tidings are sent to us from God and they offer to us great joy in our life.
* God’s good tidings are available to all people who will hear them and benefit from them.

I. God’s good tidings come from God (Isaiah 61:1-11)
A. God gave us His Son to make possible His good tidings to us (Luke 4:16-30)
B. God gave us His Holy Bible, His Word, to make known His glad tidings to man
C. God gave us the responsibility to keep making known His glad tidings to man

II. God’s good tidings are declared by God’s messengers to others (Luke 2:8-21)
A. God’s angels declared His message of good tidings to the shepherds (vv. 9-14)
B. God’s Son came to bring God’s good tidings to mankind through Himself (vv. 11-16)
C. God’s good tidings were made known to others by the shepherds (vv. 16-21)
1. They obeyed what God made known to them by His messengers
2. They came to see Jesus who was God’s Messiah to save them from their sins
3. They went and told others what they had heard and experienced personally

III. God’s good tidings are enjoyed by God’s children to share with others (Romans 10:12-18)
A. Everyone is a sinner who needs to benefit from calling on the Lord (v. 12)
B. Anyone who calls upon the Lord in faith for forgiveness will be saved (v. 13)
C. Every sinner needs to hear the true Gospel in order to trust in Jesus (vv. 14-17)
D. Just because a sinner hears the Gospel does not mean they will believe it (v. 16)
E. Our responsibility is to spread the Gospel to every person in every place (v. 18)
