TEXT:   Psalm 119:57-64

  1. Relationship with God (v. 57)
  2. Where He is your portion
  3. Where He is your LORD
  4. Where He is your authority

 

  1. Prayer unto God (v. 58)
  2. Dependence on Him—“I intreated thy favor…”
  3. Seeking God’s help in my life
  4. Seeking God’s blessings on my life
  5. Seeking God’s face to shine upon my life (Numbers 6:24-26)
  6. Faith in Him—“…with my whole heart:…”
  7. Benefit from Him—“…be merciful unto me according to thy word.”

III.  Repentance before God (v. 59)

  1. When we sin in our attitude against Him
  2. When we sin in our words offending Him
  3. When we sin in our actions disobeying Him
  4. When we sin in our relationships with others created by Him

 

  1. Obedience to God’s Word (v. 60)
  2. What God says for me to believe
  3. What God says for me to do
  4. What God says for me not to do

 

  1. Meditation on God’s Word (v. 61)
  2. Getting it into my mind by reading it
  3. Getting it into my heart by memorizing it
  4. Getting it into my life by remembering it

 

  1. Thankfulness to God (v. 62)
  2. Thankfulness for the promises of God’s Word
  3. Thankfulness for the goodness of God’s love
  4. Thankfulness for the greatness of God’s provision

 

VII. Godly Friends (v. 63)

  1. Choosing friends that honor God in their own life (Proverbs 13:20)
  2. Choosing friends that respect God in their own life (Proverbs 28:24)
  3. Choosing friends that obey God’s Word in their own life (Proverbs 28:7)

 

VIII. Submission to God (v. 64)

  1. Submission to God as the Creator of my life helps me to build a godly life
  2. Submission to God for His mercy in my life helps me to build a godly life
  3. Submission to God to be teachable in His Word helps me to build a godly life
  4. The Psalmist is requesting to be taught by God
  5. The Psalmist is committing to being attentive to learn
  6. The Psalmist is asking to be prodded in obeying what he learns
