AM: “A FAITHFUL FATHER”

TEXT: Luke 15:11-32

I. The father was faithful to both sons (vv. 11-16)
A. Faithful to provide for them both the same
1. He provided for them both physically
2. He provided for them both materially
3. He provided for them both supportively
4. He provided for them both emotionally
B. Faithful to show love to them both the same
1. He was present with them both
2. He cared for them both
3. He built up a life for them both
C. Faithful to be welcoming to them both the same
1. He went looking for the younger son until he came home (vv. 20-24)
2. He went to his older son who would not come in (v. 28)

II. The father had two unfaithful sons
A. One was outwardly unfaithful to his father (vv. 12-14)
B. One was inwardly unfaithful to his father (vv. 25-32)

III. The father was loving to both sons
A. He was listening intently to both sons
1. Listening to them even though they were not respectful (vv. 12, 29-32)
2. Listening to them both share their heart (vv. 17-21, 29-30)
B. He was looking favorably to both sons (vv. 20, 28)
C. He was loving patiently to both sons
1. He was not reactive
2. He was not vindictive
3. He was not unforgiving
