TEXT:  II Timothy 1:1-5

I. Encourage them in their relationship with God (v. 1)
A. The will of God in our serving
B. The promise of God in Christ

II. Encourage them in the goodness of God (v. 2)
A. The goodness of God in being part of His family
B. The goodness of God in our life as His children
C. The goodness of God provided to us by Him through His Son

III. Encourage them in the blessings of one another (vv. 3-5)
A. Paul was introduced to God by his forefathers (v. 3)
B. Paul was a godly influence in Timothy’s life (v. 4; Proverbs 27:17; I Corinthians 9:27)
C. Paul was complimentary of Timothy’s godly heritage (v. 5)
1. Paul remembered the faithfulness of Timothy’s grandmother (Proverbs 13:22)
2. Paul recollected about the Christian faith of Timothy’s mother
3. Paul recognized the same genuine living faith in Timothy himself
