I. The Truth of God about His chosen people (vv. 1-8)
A. Our benefit of God’s goodness is meant to benefit others (vv. 1-2)
B. Our unrighteousness does not bring about God’s righteousness in us (vv. 3-5; Galatians 3:22-29)
C. Our sinfulness does not produce God’s grace (vv. 7-8; Romans 5:20; 6:1; 6:15; II Corinthians 8:7; 9:8)

II. The Declaration of God about man’s sinfulness (vv. 9-20)
A. All are guilty under the condemnation of sin (vv. 9-15)
B. All are under the destruction of dishonoring God (vv. 16-17)
C. All are incapable of removing the guilt of their sins (vv. 18-20)

III. The Righteousness of God by Faith (vv. 21-31)
A. God’s righteousness is available to all God’s way (vv. 21-22)
B. God’s righteousness is needed to be right with God (vv. 23-24)
C. God’s righteousness is available to all by faith alone (vv. 25-31)
