I. First hand testimony is a powerful teacher (vs. 19-23)
A. The disciples experienced seeing the resurrected Jesus
B. The disciples testified of their experience seeing the resurrected Jesus
C. The disciple Thomas did not believe the testimony of the others (Luke 24:9-12, 18:31-34; Matthew 20:18-19; Mark 8:31-32, 9:30-32)
II. Personal experience is an impactful teacher (vs. 24-29)
A. Thomas was convinced when He saw Jesus Himself (vs. 26-27) (Romans 10:16-17; Isaiah 53:1; Romans 10:14, 1:16)
B. Thomas called Jesus “My Lord and My God” without touching Him (v. 28)
C. Thomas was told that those who believe by faith are truly blessed (v. 29)
III. Written history is also a very helpful teacher (vs. 30-31)
A. God has given us His Word to reveal His truth to us (vs. 30-31a)
II Timothy 3:15-17; II Samuel 23:2; II Peter1:16-21; Hebrews 4:12
B. God has given us His Word for us to have faith (v. 31b)
1. Believe in who Jesus is as God in the flesh (I John 5:20)
2. Believe is what God sent Jesus to do for us (John 3:14-18)
3. Believe in what Jesus provides for us in His redemption (I John 5:9-13)
C. God has given us His Word to embrace Jesus as our Saviour (v. 31c) (I Samuel 2:35; I Chronicles 28:9; Deuteronomy 5:20; Matthew 22:37; Philippians 4:7)
