TEXT:  Matthew 6:1-4, 19-24

I. Give out of passion for God (Matthew 6:1-6, 19-24)
A. Only for God to know about mainly
1. Privately not to be seen of men
2. Quietly not for the praise of man
B. Only for God to be glorified by our obedience
1. Our love for God in our life
2. Our faith in God from our life
3. Our submission to God by our life
C. Only for God to bless as He desires to do so

II. Give out of priority to God (Proverbs 3:9)
A. Honor the Lord over everything else
B. Honor the Lord before everything else
C. Honor the Lord to see Him work greatly

III. Give out of principle in God’s Word
A. God cares about how we earn our money (Ephesians 4:26; Ecclesiastes 9:10)
1. As we work for God’s glory in our job
2. As we give to God’s work first from our earnings
3. As we carefully take care of our responsibilities and save what we can
4. As we have it to give not giving what we don’t have (Luke 6:38; II Corinthians 8:11-14)

B. God cares about how we spend the money we earn
1. Taking care of the needs of our family (I Timothy 5:8)
2. Pay the bills we owe to others (Proverbs 3:27-28)
3. Pay taxes to fund our government (Matthew 22:21; Mark 12:17; Luke 20:25)
4. Put some into savings for future use (Proverbs 15:6; 21:20; Psalm 112:1-5)
C. God cares about our generosity in our giving
1. Giving to God first (Exodus 23:19)
2. Give to God’s work on earth through His house (Genesis 14:20)
* Giving a tenth of our earnings (Malachi 3:8-11)
* Love Offerings to help others in need (I Corinthians 16:1-2)
* Faith Missions Giving for the servants of God (II Corinthians 8:1-5)
