TEXT: I Timothy 1:12-17
I. By seeing Christ as the key to everything eternal (v. 12)
A. God’s calling to salvation is to whosoever will come (Acts 9:3-9; John 14:6; 6:44)
B. God’s choosing for service is specific to each individual (Acts 9:15-16)
C. God’s consecrating for service is about doing His will
II. By seeing ourselves as we truly are (vv. 13-16)
A. Guilty of breaking of God’s Law in need of mercy (v. 13a)
B. Unknowingly separated from God in unbelief (v. 13b)
C. Greatly in need of grace through faith in Christ Jesus (v. 14)
D. Truly a sinner in need of a Saviour (v. 15; Colossians 1:12-22)
III. By giving all glory to God alone (v. 17)
A. The sovereign God who is King eternal (I Timothy 6:14-16; Revelation 19:16)
B. The eternal God who never did not exist (Psalm 90:2; 145:13)
C. The immortal God who is not corruptible by sin (Hebrews 1:8-13; Romans 1:21-26; I Corinthians 9:23-25; 15:50-58; I Peter 1:3-7, 23-25; 3:1-5)
D. The invisible God made Himself visible in His Son Jesus (John 1:18; 14:6-11; Romans 1:20; I John 1:1-4; 4:12)
E. The only living God who is eternally wise (Romans 16:27; Jude 25)
F. He alone is eternally worthy of all glory (Revelation 4:11)
