TEXT:  1 JOHN 1:29-34

1. Truth helps us understand. (vv. 19-23)

2. Obedience helps us experience God working through us. (vv. 24-28)
   1. John baptized with water in obedience to God’s Will
   2. John baptized with water in obedience to Scripture
   3. John baptized with water in obedience to what he knew
3. Knowing Jesus is essential to receiving the Holy Spirit. (vv. 29-34)
   1. Knowing Jesus as the Lamb of God

         1. To be the Saviour of the world
         2. to take away the sin of all who trust in Him
         3. to be slain for the sin of sinners to be forgiven (Revelation 5:12; 13:8)
   2. Knowing Jesus as the Eternal God the Son –  Psalm 2:10-12; Proverbs 30:4-6; Daniel 3:25; 2 John 9
   3. Knowing Jesus as the Son of God. (vv. 14-18)  Luke 7:12; 8:42; 9:38; Hebrews 11:17; John 3:16; 3:18; 1 John 4:9
