I. A true witness is always looking for people to witness to (vv. 27-28)
- Jesus was leaving one ministry opportunity and going to another
- Jesus saw Levi as He was just passing by as He travelled
- Jesus called Levi to join Him in His journey of ministry
II. A true witness seizes unique opportunities to witness (vv. 29-30)
- Levi created an opportunity to introduce his friends to Jesus
- Jesus accepted the invitation of Levi to his hospitality evangelism
- Jesus was criticized for obeying the will of His Father as a faithful witness
III. A true witness is unapologetically a faithful witness (vv. 31-32)
- Jesus accepted the criticism
- Jesus explains the reason (I Peter 3:15-18)
- Jesus witnesses in His explanation
- The Pharisees thought they were well spiritually due to their religiosity
- The Pharisees were trusting in their own righteousness from devotion
- The Pharisees needed to realize they were in need of Jesus
