AM: “REMEMBERING THE SIGNIFICANCE OF BEING IN ‘I AM'”

TEXT:   Ephesians 2:11-18

    • Introduction: “Wherefore remember,”
      Your condition before Christ (2:1-5)
      How you came to be in Christ (2:5-9)
      What the result of being in Christ should be for all believers (2:10)

I. Remembering where I came from before Christ.  Verses 11-13

A. Not part of God’s children (v. 11)
B. Separated from God in sin (v. 12)
C. Coming into Christ for relationship with God (v. 13; Philippians 3:13-21)
II. Remembering the difference being in Christ has made (vv. 14-15)
A. Christ destroys the separation that sin causes (v. 14)
B. Christ fulfilled the law of God for us that we could not (v. 15a)
C. Christ unifies our differences by being one in Him (v. 15b; Romans 10:12-15; Galatians 3:22-29)

III. Remembering who we are in Christ (vv. 16-18)
A. We are all reconciled unto God in Christ (v. 16)
B. We are all at peace with God in Christ (v. 17)
1. Peace with God for us because of Christ in us (Romans 5:1-6)
2. Peace from God to us because of Christ in us (John 14:1, 27)
3. Peace of God in us because of Christ in us (Philippians 4:4-9)
C. We are all welcomed before God in Christ (v. 18)
