TEXT: II Timothy 3:10-17
Introduction:
*God’s Word is faithful to man.
*God is faithful to His Word.
*Whatever God promises in His Word He will be faithful to complete.
I. Faithfulness to help believers be faithful (vv. 10-14)
A. Paul was able to remain faithful (vv. 10-11)
B. All believers can be able to remain faithful (vv. 12-13)
C. Timothy would be able to remain faithful (v. 14)
II. Faithfulness to bring sinners to salvation (v. 15)
A. God uses His Word to reveal Himself to man (v. 15a)
B. God uses His Word to draw people to Salvation (v. 15b; Hebrews 4:12)
1. Scripture is able to make us wise enough to see our sinfulness (Ephesians 2:1-5)
2. Scripture is able to make us wise enough to see we are separated from God in sin
3. Scripture is able to make us wise enough to see we are in need of God’s Saviour
C. God uses His Word to give us faith to trust Christ as Saviour (v. 15c)
1. We cannot be saved without faith in God and in His Son as our sacrifice for sin (Hebrews 11:6; Ephesians 2:8-10)
2. We can have faith to trust in Christ as Saviour through God’s Word (Romans 10:5-17)
D. God’s Word produces faith in us so we can trust in Christ if we are willing (Ephesians 1:7-14)
III. Faithfulness to equip believers to service (vv. 16-17)
A. God’s Word is profitable to give us what to believe
B. God’s Word is profitable to give us how to live
C. God’s Word is profitable to give us completeness to serve
