TEXT: II Samuel 23:1-7

I. The Holy Spirit helped David be the servant of God (vv. 1-2)
A. To be lifted up as the man of God to lead His people (Matthew 23:12: I Peter 5:6)
B. To be anointed as God’s king over His people
C. To be God’s messenger to record God’s Word (II Peter 1:21)

II. The Holy Spirit helped David shine the light of God on His people (vv. 3-4)
A. The light of God’s holiness shining on His people
B. The light of God’s love shining on His people
C. The light of God’s blessings shining on His people

III. The Holy Spirit helped David achieve much success for God’s people (vv. 5-7)
A. None of us will always experience complete success
B. All of us can benefit from God’s perfect covenant with His people
C. Only God is perfectly successful in all that He does
