AM: “GOD’S PROMISES CONTINUE”

TEXT: Psalm 119:89-96

Introduction:
God’s Word is settled forever and God will keep it entirely.
God’s creation is under His authority, and it will last as long as He wants it to.
God’s redemption is provided for all people in all times through His Son.
God’s plan is right on schedule, and no one is going to change it, stop it, or alter it.

I. God’s promises to the people of Israel continue (II Samuel 7: 14-16, 29)
A. The promise of Messiah coming (Isaiah 9:6-7; Luke 1:30-34)
B. The promise of a nation being restored (Ezekiel 11:14-21)
C. The promise of a future reign from the throne of David (II Samuel 7: 14-16, 29)

II. God’s promises to His people will be completed
A. God’s unilateral promise to Abram (Genesis 12:1-3)
1. All families of the earth have been blessed by the people of Israel in giving us God’s Word
2. All families of the earth have been blessed by the people of Israel in bringing us God’s Son
3. All families of the earth have been blessed by the people of Israel in seeing God’s promises kept to them

B. God’s eternal promises
1. The earth’s destruction (Genesis 8:20-9:17)
2. The land of the people of Israel (Genesis 17, 28, 35)
3. The born-again believer in Jesus Christ (Hebrews 13:20-21)
C. God’s future promises for His people Israel
1. Jesus’ disciples anticipated Israel’s kingdom restoration (Acts 1:1-12)
2. Peter preached about the future of Jesus and of Israel (Acts 3:11-26)
3. Paul declared a future of God’s people Israel (Galatians 6:11-18)

III. God’s promises can be trusted no matter what
A. No matter what anyone says (II Peter 3:1-13)
B. No matter what others do (Luke 19:13; John 21:22; Revelation 2:25)
C. No matter what, God’s Word will be fully fulfilled (Matthew 5:17-19)
