Each of us who make up Summerville Baptist Church today have been given the gift of membership in this entrustment of the Lord’s Church here at Summerville. It is a legacy that has been passed down to us from the sixty-five-year history since this church was established. Others have gone before us as members in this church body and have done their part during their time to give to us the ministry of Summerville Baptist Church for such a time as this. It is our responsibility to be faithful in our time of ministry in the Lord’s church here so that we can pass it along as a healthy, effective, and progressing biblical church to the coming generations who will make it up after we are gone. For sixty-five years the Lord has been saving souls, believers have been baptizing new converts, disciples have been growing in their faith, saints have been exercising their gifts in ministry, missionaries have been supported to go into all the world, and everything else the Bible instructs the Lord’s churches to be doing for God’s glory on earth. I am thankful for the two decades God has allowed me the privilege to serve His people in this place as their shepherd under the Chief Shepherd, the Lord Jesus Christ, who is the head of this and every biblical church. I am thankful for all that the Lord has done through His church here in Summerville during my tenure of ministry with you thus far. I look forward to what the Lord has in store for us together and with others who will join in with us in the coming days until He takes us home to Heaven to be with Him. I hope and pray that I will have the privilege to continue taking part in the Lord’s work through His church here even after I am no longer the Pastor as we move on into the next generation of leadership ahead in the future. We have been given an entrustment as members in the Lord’s church here, which is much like the entrustment we have been given with the Gospel, God’s Word, and as citizens of the wonderful country. Others have given to us what they cared for during their time on earth, and it is up to us to be stewards of it to give unto the next generation. As citizens of our country, we have an obligation to do our part to be a positive influence on the future of this nation for those who will come behind us. Therefore, we need to vote, we need to be engaged, and we need to make a difference that will honor God and bless others.
