Rooted In Christ By Faith
God makes much of His truth in the Bible very simple. Religions of man are what make things so complicated and confusing. God wants people to know Him personally and accurately, so He makes those critical details as clear as possible. Don’t get me wrong, I am not saying that the Bible or the Christian faith is simplistic at all, but there are truths that are simple to grasp. The basics of how to become a child of God by faith in Jesus so you can get rooted in Christ is so simple a child can comprehend it. However, there are details within that truth that can be dug out of the same passages of the Bible that you can work on for many years as a child of God with the help of the Holy Spirit guiding you and a shepherd of the Lord’s to support you. The same is true about being a growing child of God and getting your roots of faith deep down into Christ as your Saviour. Some of the mechanics of walking with Jesus as the Lord of your life are very simple truths. The ideas of feeding on the Word of God, spending time in prayer personally, being faithful to worship both corporately and personally, being a witness to the lost and a testimony to other believers are basic truths most any Christian knows and have heard many times. However, there are truths of Scripture about living the Christian life that require time in study and prayerful research to uncover and understand. God is telling us in His Word, in our theme text of Colossians 2:6-7, that we grow in Christ as our Lord in the same way we receive Christ Jesus as our Saviour. Salvation and Christian living is by faith, based on the truth of the Word of God and our understanding of it according to God, not man. God is the one who designed it; God is the one that defined it; God is the one that determines if we are truly His. We have a true and eternal relationship with God His way, no other way will work. It is not our truth to determine for ourselves. Rather, it is His truth given by Him, about Him, and for us to know Him as He wants, not as we want. Jesus is the way to God, and faith is the vehicle that gets us on the way. The truth of the Bible is the fuel that makes the vehicle of our faith get us to the way of being a child of God.
