This is what the world needs now more than ever. Hope is at an all-time low in the lives of far too many, especially in our youth. I am very sad to see so much hopelessness in the eyes of so many people in our current society. The greatest hope anyone can have is eternal hope, and the only source for hope in eternity in Jesus Christ. The need for Christians obeying the Great Commission is great today, because the need for hope is great today. This is another reason why we need revival in our day, because God’s people are greatly neglecting their calling in the Great Commission. When true revival takes place, God’s people are committed to God’s will and God’s will is still for His children to live to His glory, which includes spreading the Gospel to every person in every place. In every church, including this church, we need every Christian actively engaged in the spreading of the Gospel personally and corporately. Just as much as we need both personal and corporate worship in our lives to be all that God wants us to be, so too do we need personal and corporate evangelism in our lives. Every day we need God’s people giving out Gospel tracts as they go through their day. Each time we have an organized time of outreach, we need more people helping to take the Gospel to every house in every community. People need hope for eternity, but they also need hope for now. A personal relationship with their Creator God is the greatest way for anyone to find meaning and purpose in life. Most of the hopelessness that I have noticed in people is due to a lack of the sense of purpose, and studies have shown this to be true as well. A sense of purpose in life is what gives us drive to press on and achieve accomplishments and knowing God gives us that more than anything. Having a relationship with our Creator and doing His will for His creation of us gives us satisfaction, meaning, and fulfillment in life. It gives us hope for each day and into eternity when our days on this earth come to a close. Hopelessness leads many to discouragement, depression, and despair; while it leads many others to self-destructive behaviors that often conclude their life too early. Both of these outcomes are sad and completely avoidable if people can come to know the Lord and His love for them and their purpose for which He created them to accomplish in the life He has given them. Give people hope this week; give them the Gospel message of God’s love for them.
