“Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul,
both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;
Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus,
made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.”
Twelve months ago, we began a journey known as 2018 and our “Anchored” theme. It was a journey of many messages from God’s Word as we examined truths from Scripture in regards to how we can have hope, peace, and confidence in our relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ as our Saviour. Having Jesus as the anchor of our soul by faith in Him as our Saviour offers us that hope that is steadfast and sure. Jesus is the only one who is worthy and qualified to enter within the veil of the holy of holies to offer His blood on the altar to establish us a covenantal relationship with the Holy God of Heaven with His own righteousness. He is the sacrifice for our sins in His sacrificial, substitutionary payment for our sins. He is our Lamb of God that shed His sinless blood, which was accepted by God the Father as the payment for our sins. Our faith in Jesus’ sacrifice and shed blood has the power to cleanse us from our sins, and His righteousness can be applied to us spiritually to make us accepted by God into His family eternally. I have enjoyed our journey in God’s Word each Sunday morning, Sunday night, and Wednesday night. I hope that you have been fitted from these truths in your own faithfulness to the house of God and His worship. We have looked at being anchored in Jesus Christ for Salvation by faith as we examined this wonderful doctrinal truth. Through the summer months, we pondered the reality of being anchored in His Word and the theology behind why we believe the Bible to be God’s inspired and preserved Word. Then, we looked at the importance of being anchored in Christ’s church as a member, a worshipper, and a servant. Through the last few months, we have been studying the importance of being anchored in Christ’s mission. A biblical church is Christ’s mission to be used by Him to reach the world with His gospel message that can save their souls form their sins. I hope you will faithfully join me in each worship service in the coming year as we take another journey through God’s Word focusing on another thematic truth with rich theological relevance for each and every one of us.
